Blogging Break

Due to my lack of inspiration lately, I am going to be taking a blogging break. I am not sure for how long - maybe a couple of weeks, maybe a month. Definitely no longer than a month. I don't want to miss you guys too much!

I am doing okay - I don't want you to worry. But it's time to give myself a break from some of the pressures I have put on myself. Time to be happy!

I will see you soon!

Transformation Still In Progress

So I'm not done with my hair yet...I have to go back tomorrow for a touch up because my hair just wasn't co-operating on Friday. Sorry to disappoint! But, I got some better "before" photos of my hair, so I thought I could at least share those with you today...

Hopefully that gives you a better idea of the before length and colour. I am excited to see the final result!

Fit Friday

Question: which title do you like better? Fit Friday? Fat-Free Friday? Fit and Food Friday? Please advise...

Anyway, I am happy to tell you that I have had a pretty good week - for many reasons! I went to the gym 3 times, plus got in extra runs two other day; I ate relatively well; I felt energized and had time to create some fun projects (which I unfortunately can't share until after Christmas - sorry); and I actually felt pretty happy, which can be a rarity for me! And I lost 2.5 pounds!! Also, I am off for the next five days - it's going to be great!

The longest run I've had so far in my training schedule is 2.5 miles. Yes, I CAN run longer than that, but remember I am/was trying to work on my speed! It took me about 28 minutes to get that distance, so clearly I'm not getting much faster. It's a bit frustrating; however, I am definitely feeling better during my runs, so I do know that I'm making progress. I'll feel even better, I'm sure, when it's not so hot outside!

I have been feeling very frumpy lately - mostly because of my weight. Working out and eating better is definitely helping my confidence, but I need an extra little boost. So, I am getting my hair done tonight! I usually don't spend much money on my hair (we're talking 2 hair cuts a year, nothing else) but I am treating myself tonight. You'll just have to wait and see what I do. Here is a before picture, for comparison purposes:

To My American Friends...

My heart is breaking for you right now.

I had a whole different type of post planned for today. But, then I can home and read about more of the horrors that ISIS is inflicting on your innocent civilians, and I just can't find it in my to write creatively.

The horrors of this world often leave an ache in my heart, and lately it just seems to be getting worse and worse. The Russia/Ukraine fight, life in Syria, Iraq, etc...it really makes me frightened. And it must be even worse for those of you from the USA, whose country is targeted far more than mine.

I just can't even fathom what kind of brainwashing makes someone think that it's okay to kill innocents...I can only imagine what agony their families are going through.

Keep safe, my American friends...

Common Sense Advice

When I joined the local Goodlife Fitness gym two years ago (or, rather, I should say RE-joined), I was given a book by Goodlife's creator, David Patchell-Evans. It's called, "Living the Good Life: Your Guide to Health and Success." (You can read more about it here). Recently, needing inspiration, I picked it up again and gave it a quick read. Reading it, I remembered how it didn't come across as a book written by a flight-by-night guru, and rather, was full of common sense advice. I thought I'd share with you some of the thoughts from this book:

1. An exercise regiment doesn't have to be hard - 30 minutes, 3 times a week really can benefit you 2. People often start an exercise plan to look better, which is okay - but they often continue because they FEEL better 3. "No pain no gain" is NOT a great school of thought - unless it's for physiotherapy! 4. No one should care about looking like fitness models - unless you ARE a fitness model 5. "Good enough is good enough" - if you reach your goals, you don't HAVE to try to exceed them. If you want to, that's one thing - but you should never feel pressured too. It really is okay to be happy where you are.

Anyway...it's an easy read, and I'd recommend it for anyone who is new to health and fitness!

In other news, I tried on a few fall clothes the other day. Needless to say, I'm going to have to keep working hard if I want to be able to wear this skirt in the coming months...
